The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded 8,112 cases of crime or violations of public order and security (kamtibmas) in DKI Jakarta in 2020. Of this number, narcotics crimes were the most prevalent, with 2,389 cases or 29.5%.
Fraud cases in the capital were also significant, reaching 1,858 cases. This was followed by demonstrations and aggravated theft, with 993 and 907 cases respectively.
Motor vehicle theft in Jakarta last year reached 541 cases. There were also 489 cases of ordinary theft during the same period.
Furthermore, 473 cases of aggravated assault occurred in Jakarta in 2020. This included 184 cases of aggravated assault, 171 cases of minor assault, 66 cases of vandalism, and 12 murders.
Crimes or kamtibmas violations in 2020 were most prevalent in Central Jakarta, with 1,813 cases. South Jakarta recorded 1,761 cases.
Crimes or kamtibmas violations in East Jakarta and West Jakarta totaled 1,662 and 1,461 cases respectively. North Jakarta recorded 1,314 cases. Meanwhile, 101 cases originated from the Thousand Islands.
