Not Semarang, This is the Most Populated City in Central Java in June 2022

Based on data from the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Central Java Province has an area of 34,334 square kilometers with a population of 37.49 million as of June 2022.

This results in a population density of 1,092 people per square kilometer in the province led by Ganjar Pranowo.

Surakarta City is the most densely populated city in Central Java. Surakarta's area is only 46.72 square kilometers, but its population reached 579,212 in June 2022. This means that every square kilometer in the area also known as "Solo City" is inhabited by 12,398 people.

The next most densely populated area in Central Java is Tegal City, with a population density of 7,445 people per square kilometer, followed by Magelang City with a population density of 6,868 people per square kilometer.

Blora Regency has the lowest population density, at only 466 people per square kilometer. Following are Wonogiri Regency with a population density of 562 people per square kilometer, and Rembang Regency with a population density of 624 people per square kilometer.

Administratively, Central Java Province is divided into 29 regencies and 6 cities, and has 576 sub-districts, which are further divided into 7,809 villages and 753 urban villages.
