National active Covid-19 cases continue to rise in line with the outbreak of subvariants BA.4 and BA.5 and the easing of community activities.
Based on a report from the Covid-19 Task Force, the number of active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia reached 19,046 cases as of July 7, 2022. This figure is up 998 cases from the previous day.
Jakarta has the highest number of active Covid-19 cases with 9,942 cases. This means that the capital city accounts for 52.19% of the total national active cases.
West Java ranks second with 4,673 active Covid-19 cases, accounting for 24.53% of the total national active Covid-19 cases.
Banten and Bali are in third and fourth place, contributing 9.82% and 3.34% respectively to the total national active Covid-19 cases. These provinces recorded 1,871 and 638 active Covid-19 cases respectively.
Central Java contributed 2.44% of national active cases on July 7, 2022, with 466 active coronavirus cases recorded.
The total number of positive Covid-19 cases in Indonesia reached 6,103,552 cases by July 7, 2022. 2.56% of these cases resulted in death, and 97.11% have recovered.
The increase in national active Covid-19 cases should be heeded to prevent further widespread transmission. Therefore, the public is urged to continue practicing the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap.
In addition, the government also encourages the public to get booster vaccinations to strengthen immunity and reduce the severity of coronavirus infection.
