Amidst the ongoing political dynasty issue, public satisfaction with the performance of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) remains high.
This phenomenon is recorded in the latest survey by the Polling Institute Indonesia, released at the end of December 2023. The survey results show that 77.4% of respondents expressed satisfaction with Jokowi's performance.
This comprises 20.8% of respondents who stated they were very satisfied and 56.6% who were quite satisfied.
However, this figure is slightly down from the previous survey. In a poll conducted by the Polling Institute from December 15-19, 2023, public satisfaction with Jokowi's performance reached 78.3%.
"The movement is not significant; the dynamics are still within the margin of error," said Polling Institute researcher Kennedy Muslim during an online presentation of the survey results on Wednesday (January 3, 2024).
On the other hand, 21.3% of respondents were dissatisfied with Jokowi's performance. This consists of 18.1% who were somewhat dissatisfied and 3.2% who were completely dissatisfied.
A further 1.3% of respondents said they did not know or did not answer.
The survey involved 1,246 respondents aged 17 years and older or who were married and had a telephone, representing 83% of the total national population.
The sample was taken using a combination of random digit dialing and double sampling methods.
Data collection was conducted through telephone interviews by trained interviewers from December 26-28, 2023.
The survey has a margin of error of approximately 2.9% at a 95% confidence level, assuming simple random sampling.
