In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths were Brazil, the United States, Mexico, Panama, and Chile. The total deaths in these five countries as of Wednesday, January 25, 2023, were 2,984, with a weekly growth rate above -15.57 percent.
Brazil recorded the highest increase in Covid-19 deaths in the Americas, with weekly growth reaching 71.79 percent. Worldometer recorded 962 deaths in the country, a 5.14 percent increase compared to the previous day.
The United States followed in second place. Compared to the previous week, deaths in the country grew by 13.71 percent, totaling 1,584. Daily statistics show a 5.6% increase in deaths compared to the previous day's 1,500.
Next is Mexico with 292 deaths (up 7.35%), Panama with 0% change in deaths, and Chile with 141 deaths (down 15.57%).
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the Americas over the past seven days occurred in the United States with 1,584 deaths, a 13.71% increase compared to the previous week. Following this, Brazil recorded 962 deaths (up 71.79%), Mexico 292 deaths (up 7.35%), Chile 141 deaths (down 15.57%), and Peru 102 deaths (down 23.31%).
Total deaths in the Americas over the past seven days were 3,123. This accounts for 36.03 percent of global Covid-19 deaths, totaling 8,667. The number of deaths in the Americas increased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 2,595 deaths.
