The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 740,280 cases by Saturday, January 29, 2022. The United Kingdom ranks first, with a weekly growth of 38.06 percent in Omicron cases. GISAID recorded 292,980 Omicron cases in the UK, showing a 4.63 percent daily increase compared to the previous day.
The United States follows in second place. Compared to the previous week, the number of Omicron cases in the US grew by 53.43 percent, reaching 240,220 cases. Daily statistics show a 7.19 percent increase compared to the previous day's 224,110 cases.
Next is Denmark with 47,486 Omicron cases (a 49.24% increase). Germany saw a 180.29 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous week, reaching 30,041 cases. Canada reported a 27.86 percent increase, reaching 16,864 Omicron cases compared to the previous week.
In Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases reached 1,857, a 2.15 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since its initial detection, the number of Omicron cases in Indonesia has steadily risen.
