At that time, Jayapura's air quality was categorized as good, meaning pollutant levels in the air were very minimal. Ambon ranked second with an air quality index of 39. Ternate followed in third place with an air quality index of 40.

While the air quality in these cities was among the cleanest in Indonesia, not all cities had good air quality.
Based on the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 14 of 2020 concerning the Air Pollutant Standard Index, KLHK applies the following air quality index classification:

* 51-100: Moderate
* 101-200: Unhealthy
* 201-300: Very Unhealthy
* 300+: Hazardous
Therefore, on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 7:00 PM WIB, cities with good air quality were Jayapura, Ambon, Ternate, Bulungan, Kendari, Banda Aceh, Mamuju, and Palu. The other two cities, Manokwari and Denpasar, had moderate air quality.
