The price of palm oil on the Malaysian Futures Exchange (FCPOc1) increased by 1.36% to MYR 3,963 per ton on Monday, February 19, 2024, from the previous day's close. The CPO price reached its highest level of MYR 4,019 per ton on Friday, January 26, 2024.
Compared to the beginning of the year, the CPO price in the Spot Market today is up 9.08% (year-to-date/YTD). Similarly, year-on-year (YOY), the CPO price has increased by 1.25% compared to the same period.
Meanwhile, domestically, the palm oil price in the Medan spot market reached Rp 13,530 per kg at the close of trading on Friday, December 15, 2023.
Compared to the position on December 31, 2021, the CPO price in the Medan Spot Market as of May 30, 2022, had increased by Rp 5,988.55 per kg, or a 17.04% increase year-to-date (YTD) as of today.
In some parts of Indonesia, the price of branded cooking oil remains high. The National Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS) reported that cooking oil prices were still above Rp 20,000 per kg yesterday.
For example, in Lampung, cooking oil is sold at Rp 30,650 per kg. In Bengkulu, it's sold at Rp 26,300 per kg; in North Maluku, Rp 24,400 per kg; in parts of South Sulawesi, Rp 24,300 per kg; and in Yogyakarta, Rp 23,900 per kg.
