The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 5.43 million cases by Wednesday, September 28, 2022. The United States recorded the highest number of Omicron cases, with weekly growth reaching 1.67 percent. GISAID recorded 1.74 million Omicron cases in the US. Daily cases in this region increased by 0.36 percent compared to the previous day.
Next is the United Kingdom, which recorded 0.22 percent more Omicron cases compared to the previous week. Daily Omicron cases in the UK increased by 0.03 percent compared to the previous day.
Germany reported 437,590 Omicron cases (up 2.35 percent), Denmark saw a 1.15 percent increase in Omicron cases to 294,030 compared to the previous week, and France reported 273,820 Omicron cases (up 0.96 percent).
As for Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases recorded to date is 22,763, a 0.42 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.
