This week, one country recorded an increase in deaths, while 11 others recorded fewer deaths than the previous week.
In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Lithuania, Russia, Croatia (Hrvatska), France, and Denmark. The total number of deaths in these five countries as of Saturday, May 6, 2023, was 549, with a weekly growth rate above -7.5 percent.
Lithuania ranks first, with a weekly increase in deaths of 33.33 percent. Worldometer recorded eight deaths in the country, a 60 percent increase compared to the previous day.
Next is Russia, which recorded 3.45 percent fewer deaths compared to the previous week. Daily data shows a 0.45% increase in deaths compared to the previous day. Deaths in Croatia (Hrvatska) decreased by 3.85%, France recorded 255 deaths (down 4.49%), and Denmark recorded 37 deaths (down 7.5%).
Looking at the number of reported deaths, Germany had the highest number of deaths in the past seven days in Europe, with 331 deaths. Reported deaths in the country decreased by 34.84% compared to the previous week. Following Germany, France recorded 255 deaths (down 4.49%), Russia 224 deaths (down 3.45%), Denmark 37 deaths (down 7.5%), and Croatia (Hrvatska) 25 deaths (down 3.85%).
A total of 927 deaths were recorded in Europe over the past seven days. This accounts for 47.83 percent of global Covid-19 deaths, totaling 1,938. The number of deaths in Europe decreased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 1,189 deaths.
