The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded 133 regencies/cities with a weekly number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases above the national average, currently recorded at 3.08 per 100,000 population/week (data as of Monday, December 12, 2022).
The top five regencies/cities with confirmed positive cases exceeding 37.77 per 100,000 population/week are Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, West Jakarta, East Jakarta, and South Tangerang, with values of 55.6 per 100,000 population/week, 53.44 per 100,000 population/week, 42.11 per 100,000 population/week, 40.17 per 100,000 population/week, and 37.77 per 100,000 population/week, respectively.
The national COVID-19 data recapitulation from the Ministry of Health shows that confirmed positive cases in most regencies/cities outside Java have decreased. A higher-than-previous daily number of confirmed positive cases was recorded in 47 regencies/cities, while 101 regencies/cities recorded lower confirmed positive cases.
Areas outside Java with the highest confirmed positive case rates include Teluk Bintuni, Mimika, and Sumba Tengah, with confirmed positive cases of 18.8 per 100,000 population/week, 17.13 per 100,000 population/week, and 14.56 per 100,000 population/week, respectively.
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to help reduce COVID-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
