Based on a report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the hotel room occupancy rate (TPK) for star-rated hotels in September 2023 reached 53.02%. This figure is up 3 percentage points year-on-year (yoy).
East Kalimantan had the highest national TPK for star-rated hotels, at 60.48%, a slight increase of 0.23 percentage points yoy.
BPS Deputy for Distribution and Service Statistics, Pudji Ismartini, stated that the increase in occupancy in East Kalimantan in September 2023 was partly driven by the development of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN).
"The increase in hotel occupancy was driven by several events, such as the Erau Pelas Benua traditional festival, and government visits related to the IKN development and other official business," said Pudji Ismartini, in a virtual press conference on Wednesday (11/11/2023).
Bali followed with a star-rated hotel occupancy rate of 59.25%, a year-on-year increase of 12.80 percentage points.
Third was Banten, with a star-rated hotel TPK of 59.06%, up 5 percentage points yoy.
BPS also noted that the average length of stay for guests at star-rated hotels in September 2023 was 1.62 days, or approximately two days.
"This is down 0.06 percentage points compared to the previous month, and also down 0.02 percentage points compared to September 2022," explained Pudji.
The following is a list of the 10 provinces with the highest star-rated hotel TPK in September 2023:
1. East Kalimantan: 60.48%
2. Bali: 59.25%
3. Banten: 59.06%
4. Yogyakarta Special Region: 58.99%
5. Jakarta Special Capital Region: 57.33%
6. Lampung: 56.85%
7. Gorontalo: 56.45%
8. West Kalimantan: 56.34%
9. Jambi: 56.21%
10. South Sumatra: 54.86%
