Average Length of Schooling in Sumenep Regency Rises to 6.24 Years

The average length of schooling (ALS) for residents aged 25 years and over in Sumenep, East Java, reached 6.24 years in 2025.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the ALS of the region's population is below the average for East Java Province, which reached 8.39 years in 2025.

Sumenep's ALS increased by 0.14 years (2.3%) compared to the previous year, which was 6.1 years. Meanwhile, in the last five years, the ALS has increased by 0.53 years (9.28%).

This ALS indicates that the average Sumenep resident only attended school up to the 6th grade of elementary school. However, this ALS is still below the national average ALS of 9.07 years in 2025.

Compared to 37 other regencies/cities in East Java Province, Sumenep's ALS is in 36th position. Other regions in the province with the highest ALS are Madiun City (12.12 years), while the lowest ALS is Sampang Regency (5.19 years).
