The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded 89 regencies/cities with a weekly number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases above the national average, currently recorded at 5.19 per 100,000 population/week (data as of Saturday, August 6, 2022).
The top five regencies/cities with confirmed positive cases exceeding 105.02 per 100,000 population/week are South Jakarta City, Central Jakarta City, South Tangerang City, East Jakarta City, and West Jakarta City, with values of 163.08, 147.97, 132.17, 114.41, and 105.02 per 100,000 population/week, respectively.
A recapitulation of national COVID-19 data from the Ministry of Health shows an increase in confirmed positive cases in most regencies/cities outside Java. 72 regencies/cities recorded higher daily confirmed positive cases than before, while 60 regencies/cities recorded lower confirmed positive cases.
Areas outside Java with the highest confirmed positive case rates include Palangkaraya City, Banjarmasin City, and Bontang City, with confirmed positive cases of 61.53, 61.15, and 58.77 per 100,000 population/week, respectively.
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to help reduce COVID-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
