Halal tourism destinations are tourist spots that are friendly to Muslim travelers, such as providing halal food and beverages, ablution facilities, suitable places of worship, and so on.
According to the Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) report, in 2022 Malaysia was the best halal tourism destination globally and in Southeast Asia.
GMTI made this ranking through four main assessment indicators: ease of access to tourist attractions, communication facilities, safety and environmental sustainability, and service quality.
As a result, Malaysia achieved a score of 74 out of 100. Indonesia scored 70 points, placing it second globally and in Southeast Asia.
Singapore ranked third in Southeast Asia with a score of 62 points, followed by Brunei Darussalam with 61 points, and Thailand with 51 points.
