COVID-19 Cases Decline; Most Regions in Java and Bali Implement Level 3 PPKM

The Indonesian government extended the implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) for the Java-Bali region from August 24 to August 30, 2021. President Joko Widodo stated that the Covid-19 pandemic is not yet over and several countries are experiencing a third wave.

Based on the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 35 of 2021, at least 128 regencies/cities in Java-Bali implemented PPKM levels 2-4. The majority of regencies/cities in Java-Bali implemented PPKM level 3, encompassing 67 regencies/cities.

Fifty-one regencies/cities are still implementing PPKM level 4. Meanwhile, PPKM level 2 has been implemented in 10 regions. West Java dominates PPKM level 2 with four regencies/cities.

The following is a detailed list of regions implementing PPKM levels 2-4 in Java:

PPKM Level 4

1. West Java: Cianjur Regency, Sukabumi City, Sukabumi Regency, and Cirebon City.
2. Central Java: Boyolali Regency, Purbalingga Regency, Wonogiri Regency, Sukoharjo Regency, Klaten Regency, Kebumen Regency, Banyumas Regency, Tegal City, Surakarta City, Salatiga City, Magelang City, Sragen Regency, Purworejo Regency, Cilacap Regency, and Karanganyar Regency.
3. Yogyakarta Special Region: Sleman Regency, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta City, Kulonprogo Regency, and Gunungkidul Regency.
4. East Java: Tulungagung Regency, Madiun Regency, Malang City, Madiun City, Kediri City, Blitar City, Batu City, Trenggalek Regency, Malang Regency, Ponorogo Regency, Ngawi Regency, Magetan Regency, Probolinggo City, Kediri Regency, Jombang Regency, Blitar Regency, Banyuwangi Regency, and Lumajang Regency.

PPKM Level 3

1. Jakarta: Thousand Islands Regency, West Jakarta City, East Jakarta City, South Jakarta City, North Jakarta City, and Central Jakarta City.
2. Banten: Cilegon City, Serang City, Pandeglang Regency; South Tangerang City, Tangerang City, and Tangerang Regency.
3. West Java: Kuningan Regency, Indramayu Regency, Purwakarta Regency, Banjar City, Pangandaran Regency, Cirebon Regency, Ciamis Regency, Karawang Regency, Tasikmalaya City, Bogor City, Bekasi City, Bandung City, Depok City, Cimahi City, Bogor Regency, West Bandung Regency, Bekasi Regency, Bandung Regency, Sumedang Regency.
4. Central Java: Wonosobo Regency, Pekalongan Regency, Magelang Regency, Brebes Regency, Pemalang Regency, Grobogan Regency, Tegal Regency, Pati Regency, Banjarnegara Regency, Batang Regency, Rembang Regency, Semarang Regency, Kendal Regency, Demak Regency, Semarang City, Pekalongan City, Blora Regency, Temanggung Regency.
5. East Java: Pasuruan Regency, Pacitan Regency, Sumenep Regency, Probolinggo Regency, Tuban Regency, Jember Regency, Bojonegoro Regency, Situbondo Regency, Bondowoso Regency, Nganjuk Regency, Pasuruan City, Sidoarjo Regency, Surabaya City, Mojokerto City, Mojokerto Regency, Lamongan Regency, Gresik Regency, Bangkalan Regency.

PPKM Level 2

1. Banten: Serang Regency, Lebak Regency.
2. West Java: Tasikmalaya Regency, Majalengka Regency, Subang Regency, Garut Regency.
3. Central Java: Kudus Regency, Jepara Regency.
4. East Java: Sampang Regency, Pamekasan Regency.

The government is also considering a gradual adjustment to community activity restrictions. Some of these regulations include: places of worship are allowed to open at a maximum of 25% capacity (maximum 30 people). Restaurants are allowed dine-in service at a maximum of 25% capacity, 2 people per table, and operating hours are limited until 8 PM.

Shopping malls are allowed to open until 8 PM with a maximum of 50% capacity and strict adherence to health protocols. Export-oriented industries and their supporting industries can operate at 100%, but if a new Covid-19 cluster occurs, they will be closed for 5 days.

Although several areas have experienced a decrease in PPKM level, the public is continuously urged to diligently implement the 3M health protocols to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. These protocols include wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap.
