Foreign tourist visits (wisman) started to increase in November 2021. A total of 153,200 visits were recorded that month, a slight increase of 3.06% compared to October 2021.
Compared to November 2020, tourist visits also increased by 6.04%. However, the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Margo Yuwono, stated that the increase in tourist visits in November 2021 was not significant compared to foreign tourist visits to Indonesia in 2019, which averaged over 1 million visits per month.
A total of 1.48 million foreign tourist visits to Indonesia were recorded from January to November 2021. This number plummeted by 61.82% compared to the same period in 2020.
The number of foreign tourist visits in November 2021 comprised 19,910 visits by air. This number increased by 26.63% compared to October 2021.
Furthermore, 33,630 foreign tourist visits to Indonesia in November 2021 were by sea, down 13.79% from the previous month. Meanwhile, 99,660 visits were by land, up 6.12% compared to October 2021.
Based on country of origin, visits from Timor Leste dominated, reaching 81,700 visits (53.3%) in November 2021. This was followed by Malaysia with 40,400 visits (26.3%).
