Anies Baswedan served as the Governor of Jakarta from October 16, 2017, to October 15, 2022. At the end of his term, he managed to reduce the prevalence of stunting among children under five (under-five children) in Jakarta to 16.8% in 2021.
This figure is down 5.9 percentage points from the initial level of 22.7% in 2017 when he assumed office. This means that at the end of Governor Anies's leadership, the stunting rate in Jakarta decreased from the medium to the low category by 2021. The stunting categories are as follows:

* Medium 20-29.9%
* Low < 20%
According to the Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI), the highest stunting rate in Jakarta was recorded in North Jakarta, reaching 20.4% in 2021. One in five under-five children in North Jakarta experienced stunting. The prevalence of stunting among under-five children in Jakarta by regency/city in 2021 is as follows:

* Central Jakarta: 19.7%
* Thousand Islands: 19.3%
* West Jakarta: 7.6%
* Jakarta Province: 16.8%
* South Jakarta: 15.7%
* East Jakarta: 13.4%
Nutritional problems in under-five children remain a significant health issue in Indonesia. One of these is stunting, a condition characterized by children's height or length being shorter than expected for their age.
Stunting is an indicator of growth failure in under-five children due to chronic malnutrition during the first 1,000 days of life, from the fetal stage to 23 months of age.
