Palangka Raya Air Quality Remains Hazardous

Rain in several provinces recently affected by forest and land fires (karhutla) has not been able to improve air quality in those areas. Nine out of ten cities in Indonesia with the worst air quality came from Kalimantan Island on Friday (27/9), at 13.00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time).

Airvisual.com recorded Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan as the city with the worst air quality in Indonesia with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 599, categorized as hazardous.

Two cities had very unhealthy air quality, namely Ketapang, West Kalimantan and Petakbehandang, Central Kalimantan, with AQI scores of 224 and 202 respectively.

Meanwhile, seven other cities recorded unhealthy air quality with AQI scores ranging from 173-195. Simpang, Jambi is the only city in Sumatra recording the worst air quality, ranking seventh with an AQI score of 176.
