The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded 33 regencies/cities with a Covid-19 death rate above the national average, currently recorded at 0.01 per 100,000 population per week, data as of Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
The five regencies/cities with the highest Covid-19 death rates, exceeding 0.29 per 100,000 population per week, are Tegal City, Tojo Una Una, West Lombok, Pematangsiantar City, and Minahasa, with respective rates of 0.8, 0.63, 0.4, 0.38, and 0.29 per 100,000 population per week.
A national Covid-19 data recapitulation from the Ministry of Health shows that the Covid-19 death rate in most regencies/cities outside Java has decreased. However, two regencies/cities recorded higher daily Covid-19 death rates than previously, while two others recorded lower rates.
Areas outside Java with the highest Covid-19 death rates include Tojo Una Una, West Lombok, and Pematangsiantar City, with rates of 0.63, 0.4, and 0.38 per 100,000 population per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to help reduce transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
