There are several professions and types of people trusted by citizens in their respective countries. Among the various professions and people, doctors rank first.
This is shown by the results of a global Ipsos survey. Doctors are trusted by at least 59% of respondents.
Second are scientists, with a slightly lower percentage than doctors, at 57%. Third are teachers, with 52%.
Fourth are members of the armed forces, at 41%, and fifth are ordinary men and women at 38%.
Looking at the overall trend since 2018, trust in doctors and scientists has decreased slightly compared to their high scores driven by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. However, Ipsos states that this figure has simply returned to its pre-pandemic level.
"Trust in doctors has fallen by 6%, while scientists have fallen by 4%—although both occupy the top two positions in each year of the (trust) Index since 2018," Ipsos wrote in its report.
Over the years, there has also been little change in the proportion of people who view ordinary men and women as trustworthy, now at 37%. Ipsos calls this very much in line with previous waves.
Respondents were given a list of professions and types of people. They were asked to rate their trustworthiness on a scale of 1-5. A score of 1 represents very trustworthy, while a score of 5 represents very untrustworthy.
Ipsos emphasizes that this report has not been adjusted for the population size of each country and is not intended to represent total results.
