Pemalang Regency Has 936 Health Workers

Healthcare workers are on the front lines in handling Covid-19 patients. Therefore, the need for evenly distributed healthcare workers is crucial in various regions. According to a report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Pemalang Regency had 936 healthcare workers in 2020.

The details are as follows: 506 midwives, 282 nurses, 55 general practitioners, 39 nutritionists, 36 pharmacists, and 18 dentists. Based on sub-districts, Kajen Sub-district has the highest number of general practitioners, with 7 doctors.

Meanwhile, four sub-districts only have one general practitioner each: Lebakbarang, Petungkriyono, Karangdadap, and Wonopringgo Sub-districts.

Pemalang is one of the regencies in Central Java Province, covering an area of 836.15 km² and divided into 19 sub-districts and 285 villages/urban villages. In 2020, the population of Pemalang Regency was 968,821 people, with a population growth rate of 1.53%.

The population density of Pekalongan Regency reached 1,159 people/km². Kedungwuni, Buaran, Wiradesa, and Tirto Sub-districts are areas with high population density, above 4,000 people/km².
