Palu's air quality was the cleanest in Indonesia this afternoon. Based on the air quality index from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), Palu scored 28 on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 5:00 PM WIB.

At that time, Palu's air quality was categorized as good, meaning the level of pollutants in the air was very minimal. Bulungan Regency was second with an air quality index of 31. Palembang followed in third place with an air quality index of 40.

Below is a complete list of the 10 cities with the cleanest air quality in Indonesia according to KLHK on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 5:00 PM WIB.

1. Palu (Central Sulawesi): 28
2. Bulungan Regency (North Kalimantan): 31
3. Palembang (South Sumatra): 40
4. Cirebon (West Java): 43
5. Banda Aceh (Aceh): 45
6. Tanjung Pinang (Riau Islands): 46
7. Palangkaraya (Central Kalimantan): 48
8. Batam (Riau Islands): 49
9. Manokwari (West Papua): 50
10. Makassar (South Sulawesi): 51

Although the air quality in these cities is among the cleanest in Indonesia, not all cities have good air quality.

Based on the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 14 of 2020 concerning the Air Pollutant Standard Index, KLHK applies the following air quality index classification:

* 0-50: Good
* 51-100: Moderate
* 101-200: Unhealthy
* 201-300: Very Unhealthy
* 300+: Hazardous

This means that on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 5:00 PM WIB, cities with good air quality were Palu, Bulungan Regency, Palembang, Cirebon, Banda Aceh, Tanjung Pinang, Palangkaraya, Batam, and Manokwari. One other city, Makassar, had moderate air quality.
