Foreign Tourist Arrivals Increase for Three Consecutive Months

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded an increase in foreign tourist visits to Indonesia since June 2019. This is good news after a 2.97% decrease in May, from 1.3 million visits to 1.26 million visits.

In June 2019, the number of foreign tourist visits surged by 15.48% to 1.45 million visits. In July 2019, foreign tourist visits increased again by 2.04% to 1.48 million visits.

The latest data in August 2019 shows that foreign tourist visits reached 1.56 million visits, a 4.83% increase compared to the previous month. Year-on-year, foreign tourist visits increased by 2.94% compared to August 2018, which recorded 1.5 million visits.

Most foreign tourists arrived via air, totaling 992,000 visits. Meanwhile, 371,500 arrived via sea and 192,000 via land.
