The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded 143 regencies/cities with a weekly number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases above the national average, currently recorded at 3.55 per 100,000 population/week (data as of Friday, October 28, 2022).
The top five regencies/cities with the highest numbers, exceeding 40.37 per 100,000 population/week, are Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, Balikpapan, West Jakarta, and North Jakarta, with respective values of 56.47, 52.79, 50, 46.35, and 40.37 per 100,000 population/week.
A national COVID-19 data recapitulation from the Ministry of Health shows an increase in confirmed positive cases in most regencies/cities outside Java. 119 regencies/cities recorded higher daily confirmed positive cases than before, while 76 regencies/cities recorded lower numbers.
Areas outside Java with the highest confirmed positive cases include Balikpapan, Belu, and Kutai Barat, with 50, 25.25, and 23.21 confirmed positive cases per 100,000 population/week, respectively.
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to help reduce transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
