Bogor Regency Government recommends a 14% increase in the 2024 Regency/City Minimum Wage (UMK) to Rp5,153,041.
This figure is higher than the 2024 West Java Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) of Rp2,057,495 and that of DKI Jakarta at Rp5,067,381.
Head of the Bogor Regency Manpower Office, Zaenal, explained that the 14% increase was agreed upon after discussions with labor representatives who held a demonstration in front of the Bogor Regency Government Complex building on Friday (24/11/2023).
He mentioned that various parties proposed different UMK increase values, such as labor unions requesting a 15.7% increase, the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) 1.31%, and the government 1.57%.
"The 14% increase is merely a proposal. This decision will be processed at the provincial level; the governor will ultimately decide," said Zaenal in his statement, as reported by Antara, Friday (24/11/2023).
Meanwhile, Mujimin, a representative of the Bogor Regency branch of the Federation of Chemical, Energy, and Mining Workers Unions, stated that the basis for the wage increase demand submitted by the labor union was based on the decent living needs (KHL).
"Based on the decent living needs, where the decent living needs in the Regency are around Rp5 million, what we proposed is also realistic," he said.
