At that time, Palu's air quality was categorized as good, meaning pollutant levels in the air were very minimal. Bulungan was second with an air quality index of 24, followed by Mamuju in third place with an index of 25.
Below is a complete list of the 10 cities with the cleanest air in Indonesia according to KLHK on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 5:00 PM WIB.

2. Bulungan (North Kalimantan): 24
3. Mamuju (West Sulawesi): 25
4. Manado (North Sulawesi): 28
5. Banjarmasin (South Kalimantan): 35
6. Gorontalo (Gorontalo): 40
7. Banda Aceh (Aceh): 45
8. Balikpapan (East Kalimantan): 49
9. Padang (West Sumatra): 50
10. Denpasar (Bali): 52
Although the air quality in these cities was among the cleanest in Indonesia, not all cities had good air quality.
Based on the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 14 of 2020 concerning the Air Pollutant Standard Index, KLHK applies the following air quality index classification:
* 0-50: Good
* 51-100: Moderate
* 101-200: Unhealthy
* 201-300: Very Unhealthy
* 300+: Hazardous
This means that on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 5:00 PM WIB, cities with good air quality were Palu, Bulungan, Mamuju, Manado, Banjarmasin, Gorontalo, Banda Aceh, Balikpapan, and Padang. One other city, Denpasar, had moderate air quality.
