The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded 53 regencies/cities with a Covid-19 death rate above the national average, currently recorded at 0.03 deaths per 100,000 population per week, data as of Thursday, January 5, 2023.
The five regencies/cities with the highest Covid-19 death rates, exceeding 0.59 deaths per 100,000 population per week, are Teluk Bintuni (1.42 deaths per 100,000 population per week), Gayo Lues (1.03 deaths per 100,000 population per week), Kepulauan Tanimbar (0.89 deaths per 100,000 population per week), Aceh Singkil (0.78 deaths per 100,000 population per week), and Sumbawa Barat (0.59 deaths per 100,000 population per week).
A national Covid-19 data recapitulation from the Ministry of Health shows an increase in Covid-19 deaths in most regencies/cities outside Java. Three regencies/cities recorded a higher daily Covid-19 death toll than previously, while two regencies/cities recorded lower numbers.
Areas outside Java with the highest Covid-19 death rates include Teluk Bintuni (1.42 deaths per 100,000 population per week), Gayo Lues (1.03 deaths per 100,000 population per week), and Kepulauan Tanimbar (0.89 deaths per 100,000 population per week).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to help reduce transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
