Crude Palm Oil (CPO) prices on the Rotterdam spot market remained steady at US$940 per metric ton for the past five days, as of Sunday, March 12, 2023. The CPO price reached its highest level of US$1,065 per metric ton on Monday, January 2, 2023.
Compared to the beginning of the year, the CPO price on the spot market today is down 8.74% year-to-date (YTD). Similarly, compared to the same period last year, the CPO price has fallen 50.66% year-on-year (YOY).
Meanwhile, domestically, the spot price of palm oil in Medan reached Rp 17,193 per kg at the close of trading on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
Compared to the position on December 31, 2021, the CPO price on the Medan spot market as of May 30, 2022, had increased by Rp 5,988.55 per kg, or a 14.35% year-to-date (YTD) increase as of today.
In some parts of Indonesia, the price of branded cooking oil remains high. The National Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS) reported that cooking oil prices were still above Rp 20,000 per kg yesterday.
Lampung, for example, recorded the highest price for branded cooking oil in Indonesia, at Rp 30,600 per kg.
Other regions include Bengkulu at Rp 26,300 per kg, North Maluku at Rp 25,050 per kg, South Sumatra at Rp 24,900 per kg, and parts of South Sulawesi at Rp 24,300 per kg.
