This golden period for a child's growth and development is calculated from the time the child is still a fetus in the womb until the age of 2 years or the first 1,000 days.
During this phase, there is very rapid brain growth that perfectly supports the entire child's growth process. If malnutrition occurs during this golden period, the child's growth and development are difficult to improve in later life.
Unfortunately, many Indonesian children experience nutritional problems during this golden period, affecting their future growth and intelligence.
Stunting is the biggest nutritional problem for young children, both children under 2 years old (Baduta) and children under 5 years old (Balita). The following are nutritional problems experienced by Baduta/Balita according to the results of the 2021 Indonesian Nutritional Status Study (SSGI).
* 20.8% of Baduta and 24.4% of Balita are stunted, where height (TB)/Age (U)
* 13.6% of Baduta and 17% of Balita are underweight, where weight (BB)/U
* 7.8% of Baduta and 7% of Balita are wasted, where BB/TB
* 3.4% of Baduta and 3.8% of Balita are overweight.
