July 2019, Foreign Tourist Visits Down 4.1%

The number of foreign tourist visits in July 2019 decreased by 4.1% to 1.48 million visits compared to the same period last year, which saw 1.55 million visits. The biggest decrease occurred in the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia via air entry points at Lombok International Airport, plummeting by 61.97% to 5.3 thousand visits.

Looking at the country of origin, decreases occurred in almost all regions except the Americas and Oceania. The largest decrease was among foreign tourists from Asia (excluding ASEAN), which fell by -16.53% to 479.4 thousand visits. The number of foreign tourist visits from the Middle East also decreased by 12.41% to 47.1 thousand visits.

Foreign tourist visits from Europe fell by 7.96% to 231.3 thousand visits. Meanwhile, foreign tourist visits from Africa decreased by 2.42% to 8.9 thousand visits. However, compared to June 2019, foreign tourist visits to Indonesia increased by 2.04%.
