The Covid-19 Task Force report shows that the number of active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia reached 48,803 as of August 22, 2022.
This figure is down 1,697 cases from the previous day. However, compared to a month ago, active Covid-19 cases have increased by 27.62%.
By province, DKI Jakarta had the highest number of active Covid-19 cases nationally on August 22, 2022, reaching 17,489 cases. This is equivalent to 35.83% of the total active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia.
Next, West Java is in second place with a total of 17,365 active Covid-19 cases. This amounts to 35.58% of the total national active Covid-19 cases.
Then, Banten and Central Java recorded active Covid-19 cases of 4,339 and 1,756 respectively. Meanwhile, active Covid-19 cases in Bali numbered 1,103.
In total, approximately 6.31 million people in Indonesia have been infected with Covid-19 up to August 22, 2022. 2.49% of them died, and 96.73% have recovered.
Although active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia are decreasing, the public still needs to be vigilant about the high spread of the coronavirus, especially in these five provinces. Adherence to health protocols is crucial to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus.
This includes wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands. In addition, booster vaccinations should also be carried out to reduce the severity of infection and death from Covid-19.
