IPrice conducted research comparing the cost of living in five major countries, popular destinations for Indonesian tourists. IPrice compared the monthly cost of living in Jakarta, New York, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and Seoul.
The cost of living in New York was the highest. The total estimated monthly cost of living in the US city is approximately Rp51.5 million.
New York is known as a metropolitan city. The average monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment in the city center is Rp35 million.
The cost of living in New York is significantly higher than in Jakarta. The research indicates that the average monthly cost of living in Jakarta is approximately Rp15 million.
Jakarta's cost of living is also lower than in Seoul and Singapore. The estimated average monthly cost of living in these two cities is Rp45 million and Rp30 million, respectively.
Meanwhile, the average monthly cost of living in Kuala Lumpur is lower than in Jakarta, estimated at approximately Rp13.7 million per month.
