The Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Central Board reports that the number of monkeypox cases in Indonesia has risen to 35 confirmed cases as of 7:00 PM WIB on November 6, 2023.
Head of the IDI Central Board's Monkeypox Task Force, Hanny Nilasari, stated that the highest number of confirmed cases is in Jakarta, with 29 cases. This is followed by 5 cases in West Java and 1 case in Banten.
"So, the number of confirmed cases currently stands at 35, and there are 82 discarded (negative) cases," Hanny explained in a virtual press conference by the IDI Central Board, as reported by CNN Indonesia on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.
Based on data from the Jakarta Health Office, 28 monkeypox patients have comorbidities.
The details are as follows: 10 patients with HIV; 3 with syphilis; 9 with both HIV and syphilis; 1 with HIV, syphilis, positive HbsAg, and hypertension; 1 with HIV; and 3 without comorbidities.
However, Hanny does not yet have the real data or details for the patients in West Java and Banten, and therefore cannot provide detailed information.
Furthermore, Hanny mentioned that 24 of the 28 monkeypox patients in Jakarta identify as men who have sex with men (MSM).
"So, almost 90% are MSM," said Hanny.
The remaining cases include two heterosexual patients, one patient with unknown sexual orientation, and one patient with another sexual orientation.
