The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 4.45 million cases by Wednesday, July 13, 2022. According to GISAID data, the United States recorded the highest number of Omicron cases, with 1.32 million. This represents 29.76 percent of the total global Omicron cases.

The United Kingdom reported a 1.22 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous week. Daily data shows a 0.15 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous day.

Germany saw a 1.04 percent increase in Omicron cases, reaching 334,930 cases compared to the previous week. Denmark reported 255,860 Omicron cases (a 1.79 percent increase), and France saw a 2.88 percent increase, reaching 151,940 cases compared to the previous week.

In Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases reached 15,088, a 0.87 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since its initial detection, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.

The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) urges everyone to remain vigilant in the face of the global surge in Omicron cases. The public is advised to consistently adhere to the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.
