At that time, Palu's air quality was categorized as good, meaning the level of pollutants in the air was very minimal. Mamuju was ranked second with an air quality index of 40. Sanggau followed in third place with an air quality index of 41.

4. Bulungan (North Kalimantan): 45
5. Banda Aceh (Aceh): 46
6. Manokwari (West Papua): 49
7. Ambon (Maluku): 50
8. Ternate (North Maluku): 53
9. Denpasar (Bali): 54
10. Rokan Hilir (Riau): 55
Although the air quality in these cities was among the cleanest nationally, not all cities had good air quality.
Based on the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 14 of 2020 concerning the Air Pollutant Standard Index, the KLHK applies the following air quality index classification:
* 0-50: Good
* 51-100: Moderate
* 101-200: Unhealthy
* 201-300: Very Unhealthy
* 300+: Hazardous
This means that on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 3:00 PM WIB, cities with good air quality were Palu, Mamuju, Sanggau, Bulungan, Banda Aceh, Manokwari, and Ambon. The other three cities, Ternate, Denpasar, and Rokan Hilir, had moderate air quality.
