The Indonesian government extended the implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in Java and Bali from September 14th to 20th, 2021. Several regencies/cities in Java and Bali have seen their PPKM status lowered due to a decline in Covid-19 cases.
Based on the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 42 of 2021, 128 regencies/cities in Java and Bali implemented PPKM levels 2-4. The majority, or 82 regencies/cities in Java and Bali, implemented PPKM level 3, an increase from the previous week's 74 regencies/cities.
Forty-three regencies/cities implemented PPKM level 2, the same number as the previous week.
Meanwhile, three regencies/cities still implemented PPKM Level 4, a decrease from 11 regencies/cities the previous week.
The following is a breakdown of the areas implementing PPKM levels 2-4 in Java and Bali:
PPKM Level 4
1. West Java: Cirebon Regency and Purwakarta Regency
2. Central Java: Brebes Regency
PPKM Level 3
1. Jakarta: Kepulauan Seribu Islands Regency, West Jakarta City Administration, East Jakarta City Administration, South Jakarta City Administration, North Jakarta City Administration, and Central Jakarta City Administration.
2. Banten: Tangerang City, Cilegon City, Tangerang Regency, South Tangerang City, Serang City.
3. West Java: Sukabumi City, Cirebon City, Bogor City, Bekasi City, Bandung City, Tasikmalaya Regency, Tasikmalaya City, Depok City, Cimahi City, Bogor Regency, Bekasi Regency, West Bandung Regency, Bandung Regency, and Sumedang Regency.
4. Central Java: Wonosobo Regency, Wonogiri Regency, Tegal Regency, Sukoharjo Regency, Sragen Regency, Purworejo Regency, Purbalingga Regency, Magelang Regency, Surakarta City, Salatiga City, Magelang City, Klaten Regency, Kebumen Regency, Karanganyar Regency, Cilacap Regency, Banyumas Regency, and Boyolali Regency.
5. Yogyakarta: Sleman Regency, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta City, Kulonprogo Regency, and Gunungkidul Regency.
6. East Java: Tulungagung Regency, Trenggalek Regency, Situbondo Regency, Sidoarjo Regency, Ponorogo Regency, Pacitan Regency, Ngawi Regency, Magetan Regency, Madiun Regency, Lumajang Regency, Surabaya City, Malang City, Madiun City, Blitar City, Probolinggo City, Mojokerto City, Batu City, Kediri Regency, Bondowoso Regency, Blitar Regency, Nganjuk Regency, Mojokerto Regency, Malang Regency, Lamongan Regency, Gresik Regency, and Bangkalan Regency.
7. Bali: Jembrana Regency, Bangli Regency, Karangasem Regency, Badung Regency, Gianyar Regency, Klungkung Regency, Tabanan Regency, Buleleng Regency, and Denpasar City.
PPKM Level 2
1. Banten: Serang Regency, Pandeglang Regency, and Lebak Regency.
2. West Java: Kuningan Regency, Sukabumi Regency, Pangandaran Regency, Majalengka Regency, Banjar City, Karawang Regency, Indramayu Regency, Cianjur Regency, Ciamis Regency, Subang Regency, and Garut Regency.
3. Central Java: Pati Regency, Temanggung Regency, Rembang Regency, Pemalang Regency, Kudus Regency, Tegal City, Semarang City, Pekalongan City, Kendal Regency, Banjarnegara Regency, Semarang Regency, Pekalongan Regency, Jepara Regency, Grobogan Regency, Blora Regency, Batang Regency, and Demak Regency.
4. East Java: Banyuwangi Regency, Pasuruan Regency, Jember Regency, Kediri City, Jombang Regency, Tuban Regency, Sumenep Regency, Sampang Regency, Probolinggo Regency, Pamekasan Regency, Pasuruan City, and Bojonegoro Regency.
The government is also considering gradual adjustments and relaxations to community activity restrictions. Some of these regulations include:
- Cinemas will be opened with a maximum capacity of 50% in regencies/cities with PPKM level 3 and 2 status.
- The government continues to encourage maximum compliance with the use of the PeduliLindungi application in industrial locations.
- Tourist locations in regencies/cities with level 3 status must adhere to strict health protocols and implement PeduliLindungi.
- Odd-even number plate restrictions will be implemented in tourist areas on weekends, from Friday at 12:00 PM to Sunday at 6:00 PM.
- Tightening of international travel requirements from abroad, including mandatory full vaccination, three PCR tests, 8-day quarantine, and limited entry points for ease of supervision.
Although several areas have experienced a decrease in PPKM level, the public is continuously urged to diligently implement the 3M health protocols to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. These health protocols include wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap.
