Central Java Records 29,549 Covid-19 Deaths, Highest in the Nation

The Indonesian Covid-19 Task Force reported an additional 250 deaths from the coronavirus on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. This brings the total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country to 139,415.

Of this total, 29,549 deaths were in Central Java. This represents 21.19% of the national total, the highest number of deaths in any province.

Central Java surpassed East Java on August 13, 2021, to become the province with the highest number of Covid-19 deaths in Indonesia. On that date, Central Java recorded an increase of 472 deaths, bringing its total to 24,675. East Java, meanwhile, saw an increase of 253 deaths, reaching a total of 24,660. Since then, Central Java has consistently held the highest number of Covid-19 deaths in Indonesia.

East Java is in second place with 29,127 Covid-19 deaths, followed by West Java with 14,479, and Jakarta with 13,465.

To reduce the death toll, the spread of the coronavirus must be prevented. This can be achieved by diligently adhering to the 3M health protocols: wearing a mask, maintaining physical distance, and washing hands with soap.
