The total market capitalization of stocks in Indonesia reached Rp12.092 trillion in the second quarter of 2024. This data was released by the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX).
Although only halfway through the year, this value is the highest ever, breaking the previous record of Rp11.674 trillion set in 2023.
The annual trend shows that Indonesia's stock market capitalization has been increasing over the past six years.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic (in 2019), the value was only Rp7.265 trillion. Unfortunately, it then fell to Rp6.970 trillion in 2020.
The following year, market capitalization showed resilient growth, reaching Rp8.256 trillion. It further increased to Rp9.499 trillion in 2022.
The average daily trading value of Indonesian stocks on the IDX reached Rp12.27 trillion in the second quarter of 2024.
The average daily trading volume reached 18.23 billion shares during the same period, with a turnover frequency of 1.11 million times.
The IDX also recorded 927 listed companies as of the second quarter of 2024. 25 of these companies were newly listed in early 2024, while only 1 company was delisted.
