Average Length of Schooling in Purworejo Regency Still Below National Average

The average length of schooling (ALS) for residents aged 25 years and over in Purworejo, Central Java, was 8.74 years in 2025.

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the ALS of the population in the region was above the average for Central Java Province, which was 8.15 years in 2025.

Purworejo's population ALS increased by 0.09 years (1.04%) compared to the previous year's 8.65 years. Meanwhile, over the last five years, the ALS has increased by 0.62 years (7.64%).

This ALS indicates that the average resident of Purworejo only attended school up to the 8th grade level. However, this ALS is still below the national average ALS of 9.07 years in 2025.

Compared to 34 other regencies/cities in Central Java Province, Purworejo's ALS is in 11th place. Other areas in the province with the highest ALS are Salatiga City (11.49 years), while the lowest ALS is Brebes Regency (6.61 years).
