At that time, Bengkulu's air quality was categorized as good, meaning the level of pollutants in the air was very minimal. Balikpapan was second with an air quality index of 36, followed by Serang in third place with an index of 40.

While these cities had the cleanest air in Indonesia, not all cities had good air quality.
Based on the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 14 of 2020 concerning the Air Pollutant Standard Index, the KLHK applies the following air quality index classification:
* 0-50: Good
* 51-100: Moderate
* 101-200: Unhealthy
* 201-300: Very Unhealthy
* 300+: Hazardous
Therefore, on Friday, September 1st, 2023, at 5:00 PM WIB, cities with good air quality were Bengkulu, Balikpapan, Serang, Tanjung Pinang, Palembang, Malang, and Banda Aceh. The other three cities, Solo, Banjar Baru, and Yogyakarta, had moderate air quality.
