Central Jakarta Has the Largest Park in the Capital

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded a total area of 1,923.7 hectares (ha) for city parks and neighborhood parks in Jakarta as of 2014. Central Jakarta had the largest area of city and neighborhood parks in the capital, at 445.1 ha.

The area of city and neighborhood parks in South Jakarta reached 396.9 ha. East Jakarta has 366 ha of city and neighborhood parks.

Meanwhile, the area of city and neighborhood parks in North Jakarta and West Jakarta were 362.8 ha and 352.7 ha, respectively. The Thousand Islands did not have any city or neighborhood parks.

City parks are divided into two categories: Taman Maju Bersama (TMB) and Green Open Space (RTH). The purpose of building TMB by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is to increase RTH as a place for citizen interaction.

According to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, the direction of TMB, RTH, and all park development in Jakarta is to ensure that all residents can access open space within a 300-meter radius on foot. Meanwhile, the concept of TMB is more varied and thematic, adapted to the characteristics and size of the land, and involves collaboration with the community.
