Based on the Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI) by the Ministry of Health, the prevalence of stunting in West Sumatra Province was 25.2% in 2022, an increase from 23.3% the previous year.
Six regencies/cities in West Sumatra had a stunting prevalence above the provincial average, while 13 others were below the average.
Pasaman Barat Regency had the highest prevalence of stunting in West Sumatra in 2022, reaching 35.5%. This figure jumped 11.5 points from 24% in 2021.
Mentawai Islands Regency ranked second in West Sumatra with a stunting prevalence of 32%, followed by Solok Selatan Regency with 31.7%.
The lowest prevalence of stunting in the province was in Sawah Lunto City, at 13.7%. Padang City ranked 12th in West Sumatra with a stunting rate of 19.5%.
