The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 5.69 million cases by Tuesday, December 13, 2022. New Caledonia recorded the highest increase in Omicron cases, with weekly growth reaching 816.67 percent. GISAID recorded 55 new Omicron cases in the country. Daily cases in this region decreased by 6.78 percent compared to the previous day.
Following New Caledonia is Qatar, with weekly Omicron case growth reaching 64.75 percent. Daily Omicron cases in Qatar increased by 64.57 percent compared to the previous day, totaling 923 cases.
Next, Oman reported 124 additional Omicron cases (up 19.23%), Saint Lucia reported 118 additional Omicron cases (up 16.83%), and Barbados reported 124 additional Omicron cases (up 9.73%).
Meanwhile, in Indonesia, a total of 30,257 Omicron cases were recorded, representing a 1.43 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, the number of Omicron cases in Indonesia has continued to rise.
