In March 2024, the number of participants in the National Health Insurance (JKN) program managed by BPJS Kesehatan reached 269.49 million people.
This number is equivalent to 95.70% of Indonesia's total population.
When broken down by care class, approximately 192.46 million people, or 71.4% of BPJS Kesehatan participants, are in the cheapest class, Class III.
Those registered in Class II number 36.9 million (13.7%), and Class I approximately 40.13 million (14.9%).
According to the DJSN (National Health Insurance Agency), BPJS Kesehatan participants from all classes are entitled to the same administrative services, examinations, outpatient care, and medical procedures.
The difference lies in the contribution rates and inpatient services, with the following provisions:
* Class I: Contribution Rp150,000, inpatient room with 2-4 beds
* Class II: Contribution Rp100,000, inpatient room with 3-5 beds
* Class III: Contribution Rp35,000, inpatient room with 4-6 beds
This three-class care system will only be in effect until June 30, 2025 at the latest. After that, the system will be replaced with a Standard Inpatient Room system.
The new policy is stipulated in Presidential Regulation Number 59 of 2024, ratified on May 8, 2024.
This Presidential Regulation states that the criteria for the Standard Inpatient Room will be further determined through a ministerial regulation.
This regulation also stipulates that a new BPJS Kesehatan contribution rate will be determined no later than July 1, 2025.
