The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) has established the Indonesian Heritage Agency (IHA), a Public Service Agency (BLU) for museums and cultural heritage, to improve museum and cultural heritage services. This agency manages 18 museums and 34 cultural heritage sites.
According to a Kemendikbudristek report received by *Databoks*, the revenue of several museums and cultural heritage sites is projected to increase significantly in 2025. Borobudur Temple is projected to have the highest revenue, estimated at Rp16.79 billion in 2024, representing 58.22% of the total revenue of museums and cultural heritage sites under IHA this year. Its revenue is projected to grow by 40% to Rp27.93 billion in 2025.
Kemendikbudristek stated that the increase in Borobudur Temple's revenue is due to the ongoing Revenue-Sharing Management Cooperation.
The National Museum of Indonesia is estimated to have revenue of Rp912.12 million in 2024. This figure is predicted to surge by 900% to Rp9.12 billion in 2025.
Similarly, the Vredeburg Fortress Museum, estimated to have revenue of Rp2.47 billion in 2024, is projected to grow by 15.82% to Rp2.93 billion next year.
Kemendikbudristek stated that these increases are influenced by infrastructure improvements implemented since 2024.
Meanwhile, the estimated revenue for the National Gallery of Indonesia Museum is Rp369.3 million in 2024. However, its revenue will decrease by 100% next year because it will be temporarily closed for complete revitalization.
The Head of the Kemendikbudristek's BLU Museum and Cultural Heritage, Ahmad Mahendra, stated that this transformation employs a 3R approach: *reprogramming*, *redesigning*, and *reinvigorating*.
"The 3R approach is a strategic formula that can accelerate the development of museums and cultural heritage, transforming them from mere tourist destinations into interactive and dynamic communal spaces," said Ahmad in a written statement, as reported by *Antara* on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
