The Populix survey investigated a number of reasons why workers in Indonesia attend an event in person or offline.
Entertainment and the desire to gain new experiences were the main reasons for 78% of respondents.
Other reasons include expanding professional relationships (54%); obtaining certificates or documentation of activities as an addition to the CV (36%); attending as a representative of a company, institution, or university (34%); and being recommended by an office or institution (27%).
In addition, some respondents attend offline events because they have the opportunity to leave work early (8%) or to obtain permission to work outside the office (7%).
The survey also highlighted factors that make respondents interested in attending offline events. It was noted that networking sessions were the main attraction for 59% of respondents.
"Experiential elements such as attractive booths, gifts, and strategic locations further enhance the appeal, while brand sponsors and well-known speakers add credibility," Populix wrote in its report.
Populix conducted this survey online from August 21-26, 2025, among 864 workers in Indonesia. Respondents consisted of 55% men and 45% women.
The majority of respondents were located on Java Island (79%), followed by Sumatra Island (12%), and other islands (9%). Respondents were predominantly in the age groups of 29-44 years (50%) and 17-28 years (41%).
