A Populix survey revealed several factors that motivate Singaporean tourists to vacation in various cities across Indonesia.
The results showed that 65% were motivated to vacation in the archipelago because the money spent was commensurate with the experience gained.
Others were attracted by natural beauty and beaches (56%), short travel time (54%), cultural heritage (41%), and culinary tourism (35%).
Additionally, adventure or sports tourism (28%), content from influencers or friends (19%), and religious experiences (11%) also became motivating factors for Singaporean tourists visiting Indonesia.
The survey also found that Bali and Jakarta are the most recognized destinations by Singaporean tourists, with proportions of 85% and 73% respectively.
"This reflects Indonesia's global tourism icons and the visibility of its capital city," Populix wrote in its report, Singaporean Outbound Tourism & Opportunities for Indonesia.
Populix conducted this survey online from August 21-26, 2025, involving 500 Singaporean citizens as respondents. The respondents consisted of 51% women and 49% men.
Based on their status, the majority, or 53% of respondents, were married with children. Furthermore, 35% were single and 13% were married without children.
