The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded 43 regencies/cities with a Covid-19 death rate above the national average, currently recorded at 0.02 deaths per 100,000 population per week, data as of Sunday, January 8, 2023.
The five regencies/cities with the highest number of Covid-19 deaths, exceeding 0.52 deaths per 100,000 population per week, are Kepulauan Tanimbar (0.89 deaths per 100,000 population per week), Sumbawa Barat (0.59 deaths per 100,000 population per week), Metro City (0.57 deaths per 100,000 population per week), Madiun City (0.56 deaths per 100,000 population per week), and Kepulauan Meranti (0.52 deaths per 100,000 population per week).
National Covid-19 data recapitulation from the Ministry of Health shows a decrease in Covid-19 deaths in most regencies/cities outside Java. Zero regencies/cities recorded a higher daily Covid-19 death toll than previously, while two regencies/cities recorded lower numbers.
Areas outside Java with the highest Covid-19 death rates include Kepulauan Tanimbar (0.89 deaths per 100,000 population per week), Sumbawa Barat (0.59 deaths per 100,000 population per week), and Metro City (0.57 deaths per 100,000 population per week).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to help reduce transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
