Indonesia's Stunting Rate Rises to 67.3 in 2020

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded Indonesia's Special Index for Stunting Handling (IKPS) at 67.3 in 2020. This IKPS value increased by 1.2 points compared to 2019, which was 66.1.

In detail, the highest index value came from the food dimension, namely 88.8. Unfortunately, this dimension showed a slight decrease from the previous year's 89.1. This was caused by insufficient food consumption.

The index value in the nutrition dimension was recorded at 85.1. The index value in this dimension experienced the highest increase of 4.8 points from 80.3 in 2019.

Then, the index value in the housing dimension was 84.9, up 1.6 points compared to 2019, which reached 83.3 points. The housing dimension showed progress in proper sanitation and clean drinking water, which increased by 2.1 points and 0.9 points respectively.

The health dimension increased by 1.3 points from 71.8 to 73.1. The education dimension increased slightly by 0.7 points from 41 to 41.7. Meanwhile, the social protection dimension decreased by 0.8 points from 30.8 to 30.

IKPS is one of the instruments for evaluating stunting in Indonesia. The higher the index value, the better the handling of stunting in the country.
